While she grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Michelle now resides in the wind swept plains of Oklahoma. Michelle is a multidisciplinary artist working with various mediums including clay, stone, acrylic and mixed media. Like many artists, she became artistically involved as a young child. Her grandmother was an oil painter and shared her love for art by introducing Michelle to the basics of drawing trees and landscapes.
In high school, Michelle fell in love with throwing on the wheel; a passion she still pursues today. Her passion for making things from clay became a quest to learn more about the world of craft and fine arts.. Today, her artwork exhibits in juried national shows and regional competitions.

I find inspiration around every corner. A place, person, or experience can leave a lasting impression. Average moments become my muse: a sunset's color combination, a pattern of brickwork, the red Oklahoma dirt beneath my feet and awe of pioneering spirits to weather storms of life. My work often features surface manipulation, whether on the canvas or on clay.
My mix media paintings incorporate selective deconstruction within each painting to achieve unusual weathered layering and textural complexity. Such actively destroying completed areas of a painting requires a dare devil attitude: embracing a spirit of spontaneity, flexibility, and playfulness. This process of creating, destroying, and rebuilding reveals the finale outcome. Rigorous scraping, abrasion, and dissolving layers with a reactive chemical leads to "happy accidents."
